Modifying Your World - X-Perl Unitframes

Hrm. That last post had me creating a new label. Which got me to thinking that, well, I might go ahead and post some of my mods here while I'm at it.

I use a variety of mods, and until relatively recently was sticking as closely to the default UI as possible - in the past, I'd tried some really spiffy mods that moved all kinds of stuff around, and every time a patch came out, my pretty mod would break. For WEEKS. Once I got around to raiding, that simply wasn't an option; if an actionbar or interface mod wasn't updated within a week of a patch that had broken it, that mod was out.

The mod I can use in a variety of ways is X-Perl Unitframes. It feels "cleaner" than the default UI for some things: I like the squared edges for group members and targets (and myself), I like how easily re-sizable and movable the raid frames are, I like being able to see cast bars of group members and targets on their frames, I like that I can make the buffs and debuffs I cast more clearly visible to me, rather than letting them get lost in the masses of buffs and debuffs on my targets.

I won't claim that it's the best mod ever. None of my mods are like that, and I don't think there really exists any single perfect mod. Why? Because I've been too lazy to get to work making that perfect mod. And it would be PERFECT, I tell you! (I'm lying)

Regardless, I like this mod because it allows me to move certain parts of my UI around in a sort of unified manner. This is more of a personal choice, rather than a recommended raiding mod. Though it has pluses there, too.

You may also at some point notice that the name plates for your group, yourself and your targets will also light up when these targets have debuffs on them, again, in the debuff's signature color. It's a lot easier to see a full frame light up than it might be to make out the color on a debuff outline, the way we had to back in the old days (or memorize what debuff icons signified, in the REALLY old days, before the outlines became useful, if I recall correctly!). This is very useful in 5 mans, but next time I'll suggest another mod that deals specifically in removing debuffs in a smart, compact manner.
