Healing Assigns - GO!

My guild has a Healing Lead. Many guilds do, even PUG Raids can have them as well, sometimes (you know, the kind where a guy starts a raid and drags along his healer friend who he trusts and foists the job off on that poor schmuck). My Healing Lead is a Shaman. I really, really like it when our Healing Lead can attend our raids.

In the past, my honey bun Siens has been designated Heal Lead when the official one doesn't show on time, or is unable to raid with us for the night for one reason or another.

Sadly, Siens was recently promoted to guild Main Tank status - he's a Paladin, for anyone who reads this and doesn't actually know me/us. So he's not the go to guy for healing assignments anymore.

Surely there's someone else who can assign our healers their preferred targets, isn't there?

Someone?

Anyone?

Oh. Hey. Look at that, there's Chirri. She's been with us for quite a while, she's been raiding for a few years now. She seems like a safe bet. "Chirri, could you get healing assignments tonight?" /whisper Rid, I used to be somewhat fond of you.... He just laughed.

So yeah, I got to assign heals tonight. Things went pretty well, except for ... well ... that one fight, where I forgot that one of our Holy Paladins had been assigned to spec Ret for a couple of particular fights and I hadn't made the connection in my brain meats that this meant one of our tanks no longer had a designated healer.

That didn't end so well.

But I realized my mistake as my body lay cooling on the wooden floor. And the second shot went much better. (Plus, I didn't get hit by three avoidable AE attacks within 4 seconds, and in my own defense, I think about three other healers went down at the same time I did for the exact same reason)

So yeah. I've decided I don't actually like having some form of Healing seniority, since it makes people think I have a clue about healing roles when I'm pretty sure I don't. I feel especially bad for the Druids, because I'm not sure what they'd LIKE to heal, nor what they're especially good at healing - like years ago I heard, "Our heals are soooo slooooow, I can't get my heal off in time," so I tend to leave them on raid healing with liberal HoT love sprinkled over the tanks. I don't know if they're cool with this or insulted. But when we run with two Holy Paladins, and a Disc Priest, I'd feel worse sticking any of those on raid healing. Though if any DO have to switch, I tend to make that person be me.

Hrm. I suppose I could get used to assigning backup MT healing assignments.

Geh.

Notwant.
