Crazed Achievements

One of my extremely long term goals right now is to work on the Insane in the Membrane Achievement. (I've mentioned this previously apparently)

I'm currently also messing with the Loremaster Achievement - I've done about 180 (?) quests in the last three or four days now for Kalimdor. I've already managed to finish of Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms and Loremaster of Outland. I've been slacking on the Northrend quest lines, but then they're current content and won't be shifting around much for quite some time (if ever).

I got about as far as questing in Feralas when I got a couple of quests to enter Dire Maul. As anyone who's gotten very far with Insane in the Membrane probably recalls, Dire Maul is the go to place to get one set of the require reputations back up to the point where the NPCs involved no longer want to kill you on sight. Which would help a ton, since I have further Kalimdor quests with sort of require me to talk to these currently aggressive creatures.

In the end, I wound up stopping with the questing, and began farming Gordok Shackle Keys. Which is really, really boring, and can be extraordinarily frustrating. I don't have the Rugged Leather required to make Ogre Suits right now, so it's just key runs for me at the moment. I get the impression I could be killing more than I currently am right now for further rep, but as a lazy personality I'm focusing on just the keys right now. I kill slowly enough as it is, obliterating further stuff just feels like too much trouble for too little tangible reward.

Tangible rewards keep me interested, generally... but I do have my limits. Sharing experiences gets my interest as well. While I can say that I'd like to get the Insane meta Achievement, the only reason I'm actually getting any of it done is because I'm riding on the coat tails of a fellow obsessive collector. She's much more organized than I am, and I wind up getting tips and clues from her before I finally take the plunge.

She's the reason the goblins hate me now - she invited me to join her in killing the guards in Booty Bay. It took us a few days, and we died a few times due to learning the finer points of where to (and where not to) go while we made our rounds. We avoided killing anything other than guards, but sometimes there was very little choice. We wound up doing a good portion of our guard slaying under the inn, near the fishing trainer.

Some people think you need to kill non-guard NPCs to get guards to spawn, but that's not what we experienced. Just running near them would cause the guards to spawn (usually), and we'd just pull a safe distance away to take the guards down. And then run near the vendors and quest NPCs again, milking guards out of them. Sometimes guards wouldn't spawn, and that was very very sad for us, and we'd usually move on to another set of farmable non-guards. It would get out of hand if there were other people farming their rep there, though... they'd often kill the NPCs we were farming guards from which really, really slows the whole process down quite a bit.

I'm not bitter.

...ok that's not true. I am a bit bitter.

So anyway. Coat tails, Achievements, Free Knot. At least Knot hands over a load of stuff each time you free him, even if it is very low level stuff.

I think we'll be working on killing off Syndicate NPCs next, once my mentor no longer has the free inventory space to make Ogre Suits. That'll be a couple of days, though.

In the mean time... Freeing Knot! Lots and lots of times. I think I need to free him about 10 more times to get out of Hated for Ratchet, and 45 times for the other goblin towns. Once I can do some quests in Ratchet though, it should help out. Plus, the other Goblin towns will be well on their way out of KILL THE PRIEST by that time. So I can use all of the flight points freely once again. That would be kind of cool.
