Royal Assassin

Of interest to no one by myself and my guild...

We've been playing with Lich King on and off for the last few months. We haven't had very solid time on him due to people's schedules - half of that time was spent teaching one or two or three new people in the 10 man how the fight worked, a quarter of the time we simply didn't have enough people to fill needed roles (tanks/healing), so a quarter of the time was all we had to really give it some work... once a week, if that.

One guildy PUGged with another group and got the Kingslayer achievement a month and a half ago, mebbe two months, and promptly stopped playing. Guildies saw him in two lights: he'd gone ahead and jumped ahead of the guild (sad pandas), and he was their key to playing with hard modes. And he just stopped being available due to burn out, and possibly, jail time.

He's still hard to find.

Anyway, the last three weeks more people have expressed more interest in downing him. Apparently while I was away on vacation, they got LK down to about 33%, but had to stop for the night. People were much more interested in working on him again, getting that close.

The other night we were short enough on our 25 man night that we cleared lower spire, and then switched down into a 10 man to play with LK again and get our butts handed to us. Mistakes were made, we died several times, but we reached the final phase quite a lot - and considering we'd never made it that far while I'd been with them previously AND there were one or two other people with us that night who'd never seen that phase before either, I'd say we did pretty well at getting the new requirements in our heads and adjusting ourselves to the new (to us) parts of the fight.

I know I dropped a Defile in a horrible, horrible place the second time we reached the final phase, and it took some time to get a decent grip on what was happening, but at a certain point, we fell into a rhythm. I don't know how else to describe it, because that's what it felt like. Dance out, dance in, do your thing, dance back out, dance back in.

We weren't sure whether to call it, or continue, but figured we had a couple more minutes left within our raid window, and we were so close we might as well give it another shot.

Arthas killed us all.

Tirion rezzed us. I proceeded to whap at Arthas with my dinky weapon because there's bugger all for me to heal at that point...

10 guildies received the Kinglsayer title and achievement last week. I'm proud to have been one of them, and to have done it with people I've been raiding with for years. :)
