I saw Shigihara's Blood Elf Druid video on YouTube a week or two ago and thought it was a cute, catchy sort of tune. Her voice in most of her work is too breathy for my taste, but sticking to Zombies on your Lawn and BElf Druids make good use of her vocal style.
However... (oh, there had to be one) I don't see Blood Elves being in touch with nature to the point of being Druids. People seem to point to Wiki mentions of how the Farstrider rangers were all about keeping nature in balance, and NPCs like High Botanist Freywinn are clear indications of how in touch with nature the Blood Elves are/ can be.
I remain unconvinced as to how interested these characters were in keeping nature in balance vs keeping nature in check, to serve their people. Certainly Freywinn makes me think more of a mad scientist bending nature to his will rather than nurturing the plants he was working with. He seemed more interested in creating things he might create poisons from than cures. I presume he used arcane power to twist the plants he tended, as Blood Elves (to my mind) use the arcane for everything they do, without second thought to possible consequences.
In terms of the rangers, well, having visited the lands of the Blood Elves, I've got to say that the place looks like an over-manicured garden. It doesn't look wild and "natural," it looks tended and magic'd into submission and a very attractive state. The Ghostlands look more natural to me, and they suffer horribly from an unnatural taint - but they haven't been beaten into submission.
I suppose I'd buy the rangers keeping the balance of the living creatures of the area. Rangers track stuff, trap animals, and in my imagination know enough of nature to protect themselves and survive, but they're called Rangers because they're Rangers, not because they're closet Druids. I would imagine a Ranger would report to a Druid if they saw something regarding plant life that needed assistance, but rather than becoming an animal as a Druid (in WoW) does, a Ranger would assist wildlife while standing apart from it. Druids would become nature.
I can't see a Blood Elf becoming nature.
It may be in books. It may be in "in game lore." But it's not been played out before me that Blood Elves as a people can sustain a population within themselves of people who can become nature without kind of flying in the face of so much evidence within the game itself.
Anorexic Night Elves with an addiction for Magic wanting the best of both worlds isn't a surprise. Heck, normal Night Elves with a penchant for nature wanting the best of both worlds isn't a surprise either - however the Shen'dralar have existed as a hub of people who actively work with arcane energies. Freywinn as an example of a Blood Elf Druid falls terribly flat for me, as I've already explained.
If they added another kind of Druid to the game, I might be able to buy it. The current Blizzard WoW Druid, however, is a shape shifter who eases into furry, feathered, and barked skins with ease. The idea of Blood Elf Druids in that vein doesn't seem possible. I've read that they're more in line with medieval Druids, working to retain the balance of the lands around their home... but in that respect, they've proven to be more like mad gardeners than true shepherds of nature.
Also, no race needs to be able to choose from both Druid and Paladin classes. NO RACE AT ALL. I'm lookin' at you Tauren (Gnomes should get both classes too! I'd love to see a mechanized bear/cat/boomkin/temporary tree/submarine/scooter)
