When You Suck, You Can Only Get Better

This is my philosophy on pretty much everything I do. In this particular instance, I speak as a Holy Priest within World of Warcraft.

I suck.

I'm part of a raiding guild. It considers itself a Progression guild, rather than either hardcore or casual. We're in Ulduar. We get stuff dead, yay Emblems! Except sometimes when Flame Leviathan decides certain participants shouldn't get any loot. I still don't get that.

Anyway... I'm the go to gal for raid healing, apparently. We've got about 4 raiding Priests: 1 Shadow, 1 Disc, and 2 Holy. I'm the Holy Priest that's working nearly 100% attendance to our two nights a week schedule. I'm also a Holy Priest who never really liked Circle of Healing, even during Burning Crusade.

But it's instant! And has no cooldown! Yeah. And it heals for crap, imo.

And then there was the outcry against the 6 second cooldown. I was mildly amused about it. All of the Priests who didn't have a "rotation" and used a single spell unless Main Tank healing were freaking out. I wondered how these players might have managed vanilla WoW, before CoH was added to our Massive Toolbox of Save.

I'm one of those Priests who's been playing long term. Not necesarily raiding the whole time, oh no - that didn't start until BC. But long enough to remember when Priests had to milk their 5 second rule for all it was worth, because their groups were doing everything they could (dumb, stupid, avoidable things, like the Rogue without Improved Sap NEEDING to Sap something on every pull that involved Humanoids) to wring any mana the Priest had completely out of them.

I'm still bitter, Ashren.

So, using all of the tools available to me to keep my people alive is no new thing for me. CoH spammers need to learn what their spells do.

Prayer of Healing : Very useful for Ulduar. Stupidly useful. So useful, in fact, that it's getting a nerf in 3.2. A spell that's apparently only used 2% of the time on Hard Modes in Ulduar is so over powered, they needed to reduce the spell power bonus to it from about 80% down to about 50%.

...it doesn't make me happy, but I'll cope. I've always coped. They've dumbed down the encounters enough that I really don't think it'll hurt as badly as it would have, say, the day Ulduar first came out.

I still think it's a stupid change. They finally made an instance that utilized Prayer of Healing, and changed the spell so that it was useful in a raid situation - Priests actually used the damn spell. It's almost like they balanced encounters around the belief that every raid would have at least 1 Holy Priest. And now they're nerfing the spell.

Penance loses a glyph. Actually, they keep the glyph, but it's no longer "useful" it's more along the lines of "required." Which seems dumb. Just remove the glyph if you don't like the improved cast time. Or change the glyph outright to do something slightly different. Mebbe add on a HoT effect after you've finished channeling.

So my guild relies on me to throw Flash and Greater heals around, Prayer of Mending, Prayer of Healing and once in a while, Circle of Healing. And I'm pretty sure I suck. Though I WILL proudly state that I outstrip the Paladins in terms of healing. Some might say, "Well duh, you're a Holy Priest." To which I'd have to say, "News flash. Being a Holy Priest doesn't actually cause you to use the right spells at the right time."

But that's a story for another day.

Good news: I can't get any worse.
